A new study on search engine user behaviour, underlines the importance of having your website ranked on the first few pages of the search engines for keywords.
“The iProspect Search Engine User Behavior Study”, conducted by Jupiter Research, shows that search engine users are now a fickle bunch who are becoming better at using search engines to find relevant information.
Highlights from the report:
62% of search engine users don’t look past the first few pages of seach engine results
39% don’t look past the first page
82% of users attempt to refine their search
36% of users link placement to company prominence
In summary, the report demonstrates that unless your website is found in the first few pages, it is not going to be found.
Keyword usage is highly important, particularly longer, more specific terms.
Your company is often viewed as a ‘top’ company, if it is found in the first few pages of the search engines.
This report suggests that if you’re not ranking well for the right keywords, you’re missing out on highly qualified traffic.
