Ranking well in Google is a highly desirable commodity. Let’s face it, with 93% of internet traffic delivered through the search engines, it can have a huge impact on any business.
Ranking well in Google is not something that can be achieved without effort and dedication, there are just too many competitors doing that. But, ranking well is achievable if you know what to do and stick at it.
One of the most important elements to ranking well with Google, is to have a quality links pointing at your site. Quality links are relevantly themed websites, with quality themselves linking to you.
So the million pound question is how do you get quality links pointing at you?
The answer is, your site must be worthy of these links. Sure you can buy in links, but this is expensive and the likelihood is that if you are buying a link to your site, then so are other people, which will eventually diminish any quality from that link.
A marketing blog is one of the best, easiest and reasonably costing methods of getting traffic and links, yet it is also the one that is done with mistakes. Many blogs are just sales platforms, personal ego boosts or not targeted.
What your potential visitors will want to read your marketing blog for are solutions to their problems, wants, and desires. Therefore, your posts should focus on these requirements whilst staying firmly within your industry or niche area.
Blogs should contain articles that will be of help and interest to your target market. They should contain links to interesting news stories or bits of information. In other words, your blog should be a valuable resource to your target market independent of what you sell.
You should post to your blog every day, or even better, twice a day. This keeps the content fresh, quickly builds up pages and pages of ‘on topic’ content and Google will then start looking at your blog more often.
Once you’re doing that, you need to make sure that your blog is “pinging”. Pinging is notifying a number of services that keep track of blogs and publish them. By pinging, you let the services know that your blog has been updated and hence, they crawl and index your site, publishing your blog contents, thus increasing your blog’s popularity.
You should also make use of the social bookmarks. Social bookmarks are a popular way to store, classify, share and search links. By submitting your posts to social bookmarking sites like Digg, Reddit, Del.icio.us and NewsVine, it will help to get your blog articles read, and improve the number of links to your site.
